Personal training in India spans a huge range, and almost none of it is published openly. That vagueness benefits nobody except whoever is quoting highest. Here is a straight look at what people actually pay.
Per-session rates
In the metros — Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi NCR, Hyderabad, Pune — a session with a certified trainer typically lands between ₹800 and ₹2,000. Below ₹800 you are usually looking at an uncertified trainer or a gym floor trainer whose time is already paid for by the gym. Above ₹2,000 you should expect genuine specialisation: rehab, sports performance, competition prep.
In tier-two cities the same session is commonly ₹500 to ₹1,200. The coaching is not automatically worse — costs are simply lower.
Monthly packages
Most trainers price monthly rather than per session, because consistency is what produces results. Three sessions a week in a metro usually works out to ₹10,000–₹20,000 a month. Expect a discount against the per-session rate; that discount is the trainer buying your commitment, which is reasonable for both sides.
Online coaching
Online is meaningfully cheaper because the trainer is not spending two hours in traffic for your one hour of work. ₹3,000–₹8,000 a month is the common band, covering a programme, check-ins and adjustments. It works well if you already know how to execute the lifts safely, and poorly if you do not.
What should be included at any price
- A written programme you can keep, not a screenshot sent daily.
- Progress tracked in a form you can actually see.
- Adjustments when something is not working.
- A clear policy on cancellations, travel and pauses.
If a quote does not include those, you are paying for company during a workout rather than coaching. That is a legitimate thing to buy — just know which one you are buying.
